Kristen Nugent offers you and your company unique general corporate counsel expertise, acquired over almost two decades of legal practice and including approximately five years working as an associate in “Big Law” (at AmLaw 100 law firms King & Spalding LLP and Hunton & Williams LLP, both in Atlanta); seven years in-house at a Fortune 100 company in Dallas, Texas; and several years as counsel at a boutique law firm in Metro Atlanta.

In addition to these areas of primary focus, Ms. Nugent’s legal career has involved extensive work with employee benefit plans, nonprofit organizations, taxable and tax-exempt financing structures (including lease-purchase agreements, credit-enhanced transactions, and public/private partnerships), and international corporate and tax law issues.
To better serve her clients’ data privacy and protection needs, she obtained her Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) certification in 2022 and is actively involved in the Privacy & Technology Law subgroup of the Georgia Bar.
Ms. Nugent graduated first in her undergraduate class of 2,040 with a 4.0 GPA at the University of Notre Dame, and was top of her class (Order of the Coif) and a member of the Law Review editorial board at the University of Virginia Law School. She is fluent in Spanish and conversant in several other languages including German, Italian, Arabic, ASL, and Russian.
Ms. Nugent is a former national champion swimmer, but nowadays she enjoys playing the drums, hiking, boxing, and lifting weights in her free time. She also writes and illustrates children’s books on the side.
